Can my partner read my WhatsApp messages, see my photos, or track my location?
No. Pandora's Lid is built on strict architectural boundaries. It inspects only application package names (such as com.example.app) and web domain requests to enforce your agreed allowlist. It has no technical access to your conversations, your photo gallery, your call logs, or your physical coordinates. Your personal life remains entirely your own.
Will my banking apps, emergency calls, and two-factor authenticators still work?
Yes. Essential core functions—including the phone dialler, emergency services, SMS verification codes, and system settings—remain permanently accessible. You can also pre-approve your daily banking applications, password managers, navigation tools, and authenticators during initial setup so they continue without interruption.
What happens if my partner is travelling, unreachable, or loses their key?
Your phone never locks you out of ordinary use when your partner is away. All previously approved applications, phone calls, text messages, and allowed websites continue working normally. If an urgent need arises or your partner becomes permanently unavailable, the 72-hour partner transition or the 72-hour emergency break-glass countdown ensures you always have a deliberate, peaceful path forward.
Can I still browse the web when I need to?
Yes, but with deliberate purpose. Google Chrome is configured with a managed allowlist policy. Essential websites—such as your online banking portal, transit schedules, utility providers, or specific work tools—load quickly and normally. The rest of the open web remains closed, eliminating the infinite rabbit holes of late-night browsing.
Can I ever uninstall or remove Pandora's Lid if I change my mind?
Yes. Pandora's Lid is a mutual covenant between friends, not an inescapable trap. When you decide to decommission the system, you submit a Cooperative Unenrollment request in the web console. Once your partner confirms it, the device releases Device Owner status immediately, returning your phone to standard Android operation without requiring a factory reset. If a partner is permanently lost to you, the 72-hour emergency break-glass countdown provides an unconditional exit.
